Walton's junior guard duo of Karina Barton and Evie Harkey wasted no time taking control in a strong showing against Frederick Douglass picking up the win 70-18. Barton poured in 19 points and set the pace with her assertiveness on both ends of the floor. Harkey added 15 points of her own, giving Walton a balanced and consistent scoring presence from the perimeter.
What separated Walton in this matchup was the way these two guards played off one another. Their ball movement created open looks, their unselfish decision making kept the offense flowing, and their defensive pressure disrupted Frederick Douglass from the opening tip. Walton built its lead through execution and effort, and Barton and Harkey were the anchors.
