MJ Dean Shows Promise Playing Up in Middle School Tournament
In his first taste of middle school basketball, MJ Dean wasted no time proving that talent and preparation translate no matter the stage. His Darlington squad, made up entirely of fifth graders, competed in a sixth-grade division tournament and advanced all the way to the semifinals before falling just short. Even in defeat, Dean's performance turned heads as he averaged 30 points over three games, establishing himself as one of the most skilled young guards in his class.
Dean's game is built on balance and polish rarely seen at his age. He is a lethal shooter who can heat up in a hurry, earning the label of a true microwave scorer. His confidence with the ball and ability to make quick reads keep defenses guessing. Every movement shows the work he puts in when the cameras aren't around from footwork, to form, and composure that reflect a player well beyond his years.
While still early in his development, Dean's foundation is special. His instincts, shooting touch, and poise as a lead guard make him one to watch closely as he grows into the game. Playing up in competition only accelerates that process, and if this weekend was any indication, MJ Dean is on track for a bright future.
