Furtah Prep moved to 7-3 on the season after a strong showing against St. Andrews, powered by the steady hand of a senior leader and the breakout scoring of a super sophomore. This group continues to find its rhythm and identity, and this win showed exactly why they are gaining momentum.
Senior guard CJ Humphery was the anchor. He kept the entire group composed, managed the tempo, and led by example on every possession. Humphery takes care of the ball, communicates at a high level, and disrupts opposing offenses with his anticipation and effort on the defensive end. He is the type of veteran presence that keeps a team stable in tight stretches and raises the standard for everyone around him.
Sophomore Fernando Borges supplied the firepower. He knocked down 3 big threes and added key buckets in transition by running the floor with purpose. Borges never stopped moving without the ball and consistently put himself in scoring positions. His shot selection was clean, his confidence was clear, and his ability to stretch the floor changed the game for Furtah Prep.
With Humphery steering the ship and Borges emerging as a reliable scorer, Furtah Prep continues to build something real. They are playing connected basketball and finding production from multiple spots, a combination that will keep them dangerous as the season rolls on.
